What is it like to deliver online therapy?

Online therapy is not just video conferencing plus business-as-usual.

To get the best clinical outcomes, it’s crucial to be confident and proficient in providing an individualised approach to each person, using the latest evidence, and a variety of technologies and engagement techniques. It takes a person-centred approach to engage a client in online therapy.

You won't need prior telehealth experience to join the team, however you will need:

  •  A sufficient understanding of how telehealth works. Our Free Online Therapy Training Course can be a great place to start.
  • To be comfortable using a range of digital tools and staying up to date with the latest tech,
  • To have strong problem solving skills, and willing to ask for help when needed!
The essentials for joining the Umbo team.

We want to ensure you are set up for success and are mindful of your time, so below we've listed the essentials of a successful candidate:

  • The right to work in Australia.

  • Relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience working as a therapist in Australia.

  • Background checks (National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening).
  • Professional Registration in Australia (SPA/APHRA).

  • Australian Business Number (ABN) and Tax File Number (TFN).

  • Australian Bank Account and Superannuation.
If this sounds like you, you'll feel right at home!

There are some qualities that will help you thrive at Umbo so we've listed a few of them below.

  • Genuine passion for helping people in rural and remote communities.

  • Open-minded and curious nature.
