Lives on Kaurna Land (she/her)
Languages Spoken: English, Spanish, Japanese
Omena is an occupational therapist with a big heart for working with both kids and adults by helping them grow into their most confident, independent selves. She has had the chance to support participants with a wide range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and global developmental delay.
Omena dives into sensory play and child-led techniques to help children understand their emotions and achieve their goals. She has run individual and group sessions in kindergartens, primary schools, and even overseas in Ecuador, where she facilitated group OT sessions with children and adults in Spanish. Omena also designed and implemented a school-wide project to support teachers in promoting students’ self-regulation.
She is experienced in adult mental health and have used a range of tools to help people identify which daily activities are challenging, determine which ones matter most to them, and explore ways to boost motivation and build a fulfilling routine that aligns with their goals. In addition, Omena has experience with various assessments that are essential for writing detailed Functional Capacity Assessments.
Outside of OT, Omena enjoys hula-hooping, pole dancing, and giving back to the community, whether that’s volunteering at aged care centres for their happy hour or raising funds for causes she care about. Omena speaks Spanish and Japanese, and is always looking for new ways to grow, connect, and bring creativity and joy to her work with children, adults, and their families.
