For more than 5 years, I have lived and experienced life in rural Australia, working as an Occupational Therapist in various rural locations in Victoria and New South Wales. I have a passion for caring for people in rural areas and transcending barriers to help them access the services they require. This zeal does not exclusively involve the elimination of illness in people. Instead, I am interested in learning their life stories and helping them restore their physical, mental, socio-cultural and personal makeup that make them who they are. This in turn, I believe, will help them achieve optimal health, wellbeing and quality of life.
I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences and Masters of Occupational Therapy Practice degree at La Trobe University in Melbourne. I have since dedicated my career path to making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of people living in rural areas. I have held various roles in my journey thus far, ranging from a Community Occupational Therapist to an Innovations Project Officer and the Manager of a Primary Care team. Each role has given me the opportunity to learn and develop my skills in providing person centred care and creating change to health at a micro and macro level.
I have co-founded several community projects during my work in Robinvale, a country town in Victoria. One such community project received a Higher Commendation Award at Victoria’s Multicultural Awards for Excellence. I was also nominated as an Everyday Hero for a photo-story exhibition tour by Phunktional, a not-for-profit arts company.
Besides Occupational Therapy, my other love in life is art. I can be found doodling on anything from post-its to creating zentangle murals on bedroom walls when inspiration hits. I am also an avid reader of fiction.
