Stephanie Setiawan will commence with Umbo in March 2023. Stephanie is an Occupational Therapist who completed her study in Medicine in 2017 and obtained a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy Practice in 2021. She obtained her AHPRA Professional Registration in June 2021.
Stephanie has worked in community settings, focusing her therapy on older people with disabilities as well as children with special needs and their requirements for Assistive Technology support. Her scope of practice includes but is not limited to adults with degenerative disorders such as arthritis, dementia and Alzheimer and Parkinson’s; children who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability and Global Developmental Delay.
While working with older people, Stephanie focuses on improving the level of function through equipment prescription with the goal of providing a greater level of independence while reducing the level of support required; while with children, she focuses on working with the skills required to do basic occupations by utilising play-based therapy, positive reinforcement, sensory diets and cognitive behavioural therapy. Stephanie also notes that it is necessary to build a relationship with her clients to create a positive learning environment as well as incorporate parents into the intervention to maximise the outcome of the therapy.
